Teach your children well...

Value Tales is the title of this book series,
but these books are more than that. These are stories of amazing people, most of whom have not  been written about  for children:

Some examples-
The Value of Laughter, the Story of Lucille Ball
The Value of Courage, the Story of Jackie Robinson
The Value of Conviction, the Story of Cesar Chavez
The Value of Caring , the Story of Eleanor Roosevelt

Plus others on Cochise, Confucius, Beethoven, Margaret Mead, Michael Landon, Jim Henson, Wilma Rudolph, Arthur Ashe and many others.
Teach your kids, or just yourself, by buying these wonderful and inspiring books.
They are $1 each, or buy a bunch and we will give you an even better deal.
Look for them in the children's section.

Eastman's Chestnuts

No, not George Eastman, but E. R. Eastman.
I don't know who he was, but this gem,

 Another Batch of Eastman's Chestnuts,
is a collection of funny stories "stolen and edited by E. R. Eastman."  (He wrote that "stolen" part, not I.)  This book is 124 pages of fun for $1.50. Look for it is the glass case, and enjoy.

Got a kid?

Then  you need to read this book,  Feeding, Diet and the General  Care of Children,  by Albert Bell, M.D.

Reading this will answer all your questions-
Diapers?- if you use rubber diapers, be sure to line them with dried moss
Constipation in older children?- spread yeast on crackers for them to eat
A toothbrush?- get one without a bump at the end
The child's first band (abdominal)?- remember it is to prevent a ruptured
hernia, not to keep the child's tummy warm!
And flash, "Recent investigations have proven that raw milk has not the superiority over boiled or pasteurized milk which we formerly thought it to possess."

You have probably realized by now that this book is NOT recent.  I find it scary to read parts of this 1924 book.  Who likes to think of children having diphtheria, scarlet fever or rickets,  much less polio or active TB, and the causes of all these diseases is listed as "unknown".  How sad. Buy this book and go back in time.  It is only $5.  Look for it in the child care section.

Here's Health !

Here's Health, by Earle Liederman (1926):

What an amazing man Earle Liederman was!  He started as a boxer, but did not like that much, so he became a vaudeville strongman. That led to his  mail-order body building courses. He became rich, rich, rich.... until the stock market crashed and he lost everything.  Never giving up, he rebuilt his empire in the 30s. He became a journalist and a radio broadcaster, bouncing around California, and ending up in Hollywood.  So come buy this book and learn how to "possess robust health and a body that just thrills with vitality".  Now who can find fault with that?

It is priced $15 on the Internet, but you can get it here for only $5. (Look for it inside the glass case in the front of the store.)
