Then you need to read this book, Feeding, Diet and the General Care of Children, by Albert Bell, M.D.
Reading this will answer all your questions-
Diapers?- if you use rubber diapers, be sure to line them with dried moss
Constipation in older children?- spread yeast on crackers for them to eat
A toothbrush?- get one without a bump at the end
The child's first band (abdominal)?- remember it is to prevent a ruptured
hernia, not to keep the child's tummy warm!
And flash, "Recent investigations have proven that raw milk has not the superiority over boiled or pasteurized milk which we formerly thought it to possess."
You have probably realized by now that this book is NOT recent. I find it scary to read parts of this 1924 book. Who likes to think of children having diphtheria, scarlet fever or rickets, much less polio or active TB, and the causes of all these diseases is listed as "unknown". How sad. Buy this book and go back in time. It is only $5. Look for it in the child care section.
