On her father's side, Victoria Sackville-West was a descendent of the first Earl of Dorset. On her mother's side, she was a descendent of a Spanish gypsy.  During her lifetime she, herself, was known for her novels, biographies and poems. Today, though, she is mostly known as Virginia Woolf's lover. Read here about this complex woman, her works, her friends and her family.
