Before You Die...

1,000 Places to See Before You Die: A Traveler's Life List, by Patricia Schultz (TPB, 2003, 974 pages, $3)

The author quotes Mark Twain, "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

If you only read this book, it kind of defeats it's purpose, but even if you can only dream of traveling, this book is still an eye-popper. Did you know you can still actually travel 1,200 miles on the Oriental Express,or cross the Atlantic on the QE2 (three times the size of the Titanic), or take an elephant-back safari in the Botswana's Bush? Once you have done, or read these, there are only 997 more unique places to go. Look for this book on the new non-fiction table.  (Avail. Sept. 2)

Have fun!
